Deal Verification Process
How a deal moves from submission to a public listing, which checks are automated or recorded, and what the verified label means.
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Who can submit a deal
Community members submit deals from the Submit Deal page. Sponsor and merchant accounts can submit deals that may be labeled sponsored. Staff can also add deals directly or through a batch import.
A submission includes the store, the offer details the submitter provides, and a link to the merchant page when one is supplied.
Review before a deal is public
Deals submitted by a community member or a sponsor account are saved as pending. They are not part of the public catalog until a moderator or admin approves them. A moderator can reject a pending deal and send a reason to the submitter.
When a deal is approved it receives a published time and the reviewer is recorded. Staff who publish a deal themselves can mark it approved at the time of submission.
Checks that are recorded
- The public catalog only includes deals whose status is approved.
- Staff can set a separate verified flag. The deal page then says “Verified on GeniiDeals”. If that flag is off, the page says the store is listed on GeniiDeals.
- If a price-check time is stored, the deal page can show that the price was checked at that time.
- Local offers can store a source URL and a verification status: unverified, source confirmed, needs review, or conflicting. A newly imported local offer starts unverified unless staff set a status.
After a deal is live
Shoppers can vote and comment. Comments are reviewed, and a comment can be reported. Signed-in members can report a deal. Staff can stop a live deal, which removes it from the public catalog. If a community member or sponsor edits a live deal, it returns to pending until a moderator or admin approves it again.
An expiry date, when the submitter or staff provided one, is shown on the deal. GeniiDeals does not control stock or pricing on the merchant’s site.
What this process does not include
GeniiDeals does not buy every listed product, and it does not manually test every offer at checkout before publishing. Approval and the verified flag are moderation records. They are not a promise that the price, stock, or discount will still match the merchant page when you check out.
Confirm the price, delivery, and promo terms on the retailer’s site before you pay. The Terms & Conditions describe the same limit: deals are listed as provided, and the purchase happens on the third-party site.
